Belly of the Whale Retreat - Class of 2019

BELLY OF THE WHALE 3 DAY 3 NIGHT SILENT RETREAT

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

IS THE RETREAT REALLY ALL SILENT? Mostly, yes. We gather on Sunday evening and are able to speak and get to know one another throughout the welcome and dinner meal together. Following the introductory session & opening worship Sunday evening (after dinner), we will enter into the “Great Silence.” From this point forward, we will gift one another with an immersion in sacred silence. The only time when that silence will be broken will be during our short (30 minute) reflections on Jonah each morning and afternoon, and in the evenings for our contemplative worship together. All the rest of the time - meals included - will be held in collective sacred silence.

WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE ON SUNDAY AND DEPART ON WEDNESDAY? You can check into your room any time after 3:00 on Sunday afternoon. Our first session begins at 4:30 pm. We will be done by noon on Wednesday (lunch is not included). Snacks will be provided for the road. :-)

CAN MY ALLERGIES AND/OR FOOD PREFERENCES BE ACCOMODATED? Absolutely. Simply indicate your needs on your registration form and I will pass the information along to the Jesuit Retreat Center catering service.

ARE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE? I want all who are interested in this spiritual renewal opportunity to be able to attend. Limited scholarship funds are available and I would be happy to talk with you about funding options. Simply email me and we can discuss possibilities.

HOW CAN I GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE JESUIT RETREAT CENTER? Cleveland Hopkins International airport is conveniently located less than 8 miles from the Jesuit Retreat Center, so the cost to take an Uber is quite reasonable - approximately $20 each way.
