Prayers continue for all those still gathered at the justice center today. May there be healing, peace and restorative justice for all… I am home this morning - was released from the jury pool yesterday afternoon. Feeling particularly grateful to have a safe home to return to and feeling particularly heartbroken for those that do not. I’ll be heading to the women’s prison this Tuesday evening with a deeper appreciation for the agonizing judicial process that was part of their journey to get there. I pray that we may all live each day with the assurance of our inherent sacred belovedness - no matter where we lay our head at night…

Won’t you join me in praying for all those involved in the justice system - those who have been hurt, those who have been accused and everyone in their wider circles of family and friends whose lives are all impacted by whatever has unfolded and is about to unfold. May there be justice and healing and peace and hope restored to all. I have just been called from the jury pool to possibly serve on a criminal case. I am nervous about the voir-dire process where the lawyers question potential jurors. But as I sit here pondering my own queasy stomach, I’ve been thinking of the people whose lives will be directly impacted by this case … and my focus has shifted … my own nerves are morphing into a prayer for the people already gathered in that courtroom waiting for us to enter. The people who are hurting, angry, worried and fearful. Lives will be impacted based on what happens in this courtroom. Dear God, may healing happen amidst it all….

If you choose to express your right to assemble as part of one of the growing protests happening across our country, these guidelines seem like excellent reminders of how to speak peacefully and act non-violently.
